Day 14 - Fri Jan 2, 2009
Crawford, TX to El Paso, TX
Started off the day with a trip to Crawford, Texas. I was hoping to be able to say I was there when Bush was there, but he had just left the night before. The town really does only have one flashing stop light, on that corner was a gas station, bank, store, and a grain silo. The rest of the town is farms. I was unable to locate where bush's ranch actually is, but I didn't want to get hassled by secret service anyway.
South of there is Austin, where I stopped to have lunch with Andrew. We talked business and I got to see his company.
That was my last stop, so I flew west after that. Made it from Austin to El Paso, 457 miles, in 5:25. An average of 84mph. About 2/3 of the way there I had the radar detector go off when I was doing about 95, I look in the mirror and see headlights up on an onramp. Luckily I had jumped on the brakes and by the time his radar got a reading on me I must have been down at the speed limit. He pulled over someone else a few minutes after giving up on me :)
That night I got really sick with a cold, my throat had been starting to get sick for a few days, but that night I had a high fever and was wondering if I could make the drive the next day.
