November 20-29, 2009: Mojave Camping Trip

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday, Sunday Friday Left Orange County around midnight and headed out to 29 Palms. Got there about 3am. Saturday Stopped by the salt mine and it was urine colored. We put a strip of tire in to find out how quickly the salt grows. Filled up at Amboy for $3.30/gallon. We attempted to find the airport that we could see on Google Earth, but I only brought a rough print out of the area. So we decided to try overlanding to find it. Flea got stuck for a few minutes in a sand berm, but we dug out and eventually found the airport. While exploring, we found the main road that goes right to it... Flea lost his work cell phone on Lanfair, so we turned around to head back to Fenner where he last remembered having it. A few miles after turning around, my cell got signal and I called his phone, turns out it was in his bag. Sunday Hung out at camp all day, then took pictures of the stars. Monday Drove the Mojave Road between Lanfair and Fort Piute. Accidentally found a giant gorge that cut off the road. Continue to Part 2
