Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday TuesdayFilled up at Fenner for $4/gallon, on the drive down I caught air and destroyed the prototype shelf in the back. This Rock House is locked up, the fire that went through in 2005 burned down the mill that was out back. Government Holes. Way back when there was a house here where two friends shot each other. WednesdayHung out at camp, shot guns. We set up a bucket on a rope 50 yards out, Flea was able to shoot the rope twice, 3 shots each time. I hit it in 7.ThursdayAn old well, the orange stake marked an open hole hidden by a tree. The National Park Service (this is in the Mojave National Preserve) has an automatic game camera looking at the dry water hole.We drove up to some mines on the hill. Then on the way down flea's steering got wonky, the steering column had popped out of its tube, so we dropped the truck off near camp and then headed out just in my truck. We found a Clamper plaque at Hart Mine, the city was active around 1909 but then quickly faded. The chimney is from the house of the big mine owner, Mr. Andrews. We also found a massive can dump with a lot of old glass.
We saw the Space Shuttle flying overhead, but the camera wasn't set up. But I did get a satelite a few minutes later going North->South. FridayDrove up to Keystone Mine. The road was treacherous, about 2/3s of it is actually a riverbed. Everyone made it (with a little scraping). The mine entrance had caved in though, I tried to open it up, but the ceiling caved in on me so we had to give up. I think we can get in if we move a few yards of dirt and shore up the roof. It's an amazing mine. On the way down, we realized that the park may have converted the road into a hiking trail... |
